When asked what the Art of Hospitality means to him, David said, “the Art of Hospitality means anticipating guests needs and creating and managing a hospitable environment for staff and guests”.
While providing the Art of Hospitality, David is also responsible for ordering, managing and organizing all beverages in the building. He is also responsible for using his talents and creativity for creating specialty cocktails and mocktails for events.
What does he love most about working for HORIZONS? David says, “I like the feeling of a job well done, the satisfaction of all elements coming together into a finished package. I like being the caretaker of all beverages, and most of all, I enjoy the company of the staff. I like getting to know them and encouraging and helping in any way I can.”
His favorite drink to make is an Old Fashioned – since it involves some work and gives the impression of putting care into it. The Old Fashioned served at HORIZONS is David’s creation of a compilation of different ways to make Old Fashioneds from around the United States!
Before HORIZONS, David had a wide range of jobs. Although he excelled in the restaurant and bar industry, he also branched out and became the head of maintenance for assisted living homes and has five years of experience in shipping and receiving.
When asked about his favorite story from previous work experiences – he had two stories to share! “When I worked at the Hancock Building in Chicago, I met and served Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors. Also in Chicago, I worked in the area around Second City and had the chance to get to know a few people who went on to have good careers in comedy and/or Saturday Night Live!”
When he is not at HORIZONS, David enjoys reading, writing, watching documentaries and considers himself a “political junkie” of sorts!
