Meet Rick – our Audio-Visual Manager who joined the HORIZONS family in 2010!

To Rick, the Art of Hospitality means building relationships with our clientele by getting to know them by name and knowing their faces when they come in the door, whether they’re here for their event or for another event.

He provides our guests with state-of-the-art audio-visual and digital solutions for their events, meetings and presentations. His extensive knowledge enables him and his team to recommend the right blend of audio-visual solutions to ensure the experience is top-notch for any event.

His first live stream event was livestreaming a baby shower to a guest’s relatives who were in India, unable to make the trip, but still wanted to watch and participate. Our Art of Hospitality follows us everywhere we go, even when providing a long-distance connection!

How was Rick able to provide the Art of Hospitality long-distance? He first started his audio-visual journey in broadcast television production and continued his education with various online training programs and by becoming a member of AVIXA. When talking about AVIXA, Rick commented “joining was probably the best thing I ever did because it opened my eyes to what more I can do here, and it overall reenergized me”.

Although you may see glimpses of Rick during events that have audio-visual technology, he does almost all his work behind the scenes. All audio-visual materials being used for an event will be tested prior to the event to ensure there are no complications. This is especially important for large events where it can turn into a “battle of technology” while preparing at times.

When testing the materials, he is also anticipating what could go wrong on the day of the event. Rick states, “If there’s an issue, it becomes my problem – not theirs anymore. When I am given the AV materials from a client, it’s no longer in their hands – it’s in mine. It’s up to me to make it work.”
