Banquet Server: Part-time
Flexible schedules: 20-30 hours a week on average.

Job Requirements:

Dish Washer: Part-time
Hours vary based on availability and business need – night and weekend availability is necessary.

Horizons Conference Center is seeking a highly motivated, energetic dish washer for a part-time position. Applicant must have strong history of quality on-the-job performance.

The dish and general utility position is responsible for:
• Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, etc.
• Ensures the dishwashing area is maintained as a clean, safe and sanitary facility.
• Washes and stores all dishes, utensils, pots, and pans in the proper manner during the assigned shift.
• Maintain the scullery and dish machine in a sanitary and efficient manner.


Event Design Assistant: Part-time
Hours vary based on availability and business need – evenings and weekend availability necessary.

This position will provide floral and event design assistance to the floral department and perform related duties as required. Knowledge of flowers and plants is helpful.

Event Design Assistant will be responsible for:
• Routinely care for and maintain foliage and blooming plants throughout the facility.
• Assist in the design and creation of floral and display orders as assigned by the Floral Department Manager.
• Assist in the set up of floral and design display orders as assigned by the Floral Department Manager.
• Assist in the tear down and clean up of floral and display orders as assigned by the Floral Department Manager.
• Routinely care for and maintain silk designs and foliage displays throughout the facility.
• Routinely account for inventory controlled by the floral department and submits counts and reports to the Floral Department Manager and Executive Director.
• Handle flower and product procurement as assigned by the Floral Department Manager.
• Process incoming flowers and foliages upon arrival and verify product count against invoices and then forward invoices to Controller.
• Check in and inventory all new products and supplies upon arrival and adjust inventory.
• Keep floral work room and storage areas clean and organized.


Floral Design and Sales Consultant: Full-time
Hours vary based on client needs.

Established conference/event center with a reputation for excellence is seeking an experienced Floral Design and Sales Consultant. Applicants should be outgoing, professional in demeanor and have strong sales experience with current experience in floral design.

• Must be proficient in selling and producing large volume events.
• Prior experience in preparation of design proposals necessary.
• Knowledgeable with all phases of floral design, event planning, and purchasing preferred.
• Must possess excellent communication skills and an enthusiastic personality.
• Artistic Ability: Understanding art, style, and use of color.
• Creativity: Florists often must create new and exciting pieces within a budget or with limited resources.
• Customer Service: Floral designers spend a lot of time talking to customers to get their order correct, determining what they want, and establishing business relationships with vendors.
• Organization: Florists must be organized to keep on top of multiple orders and complicated projects.


Housekeeping: Part-time
Hours vary- late evening-early morning (7:00 pm – 3:00 am)

Seeking energetic, detail oriented person to perform routine custodial work in the cleaning and care of our facility.
Housekeeping is responsible for:

• Confer daily with supervisor to receive assignments
• Sweep, mop, scrub and wax floors
• Wash walls, inside windows and woodwork
• Clean restrooms and replenish supplies
• Dust, polish, arrange and move furniture and equipment;
• Removes rubbish and waste paper
• Clean and polish metal-work
• Use hand tools or small powered equipment applicable to the work
• Perform clean-up
• Perform related duties as required


Prep Cook/Buffet Attendant: Part-time
Hours vary based on availability and business need – night and weekend availability is necessary.

Horizons Conference Center is seeking an outgoing, energetic Prep Cook/Buffet Attendant. Some experience necessary. Hours vary based on business need. The successful candidate will thrive working in either a team environment or as an individual. Must be able to multi-task while maintaining a friendly demeanor.

Prep Cook/Buffet Attendant will be responsible for:
• Prepare an extensive variety of hot food following written recipes.
• Adhere to all sanitation, safety, food preparation, and company policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the set up, presentation, maintenance and tear down of all food buffets.
• Must be knowledgeable about all food presented on the buffets in order to answer questions asked by guests.
• Inspects buffet lines to ensure proper utensils and displaying of food.
• Selects and uses appropriate knives, hand tools, utensils, and equipment to produce food.
• Complies with all portion sizes as defined by the recipe cards.
• Utilizes culinary skills to achieve established food presentation standards of prepared food items.
• Documents all unusable products on the Spoilage Report form, i.e., spoiled, out-dated, overcooked, etc., product.
• Utilizes the Problem Log to inform supervisor of problems experienced with any process so process can be improved.
• Daily cleans all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and that sanitary conditions are met.


Sous Chef: Full-time
Hours vary based on business need

Award winning Horizons Conference Center is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our team. Only culinary professionals need apply. Applicants must have experience and must demonstrate high-level culinary skills. Some management/supervisory experience is also helpful. This position offers great potential for future advancement within Horizons Conference Center as well as other sites staffed by HORIZONS Conference Center.

Responsibilities:
Coaches, teaches, and trains staff on established systems to control waste, achieve effective and efficient production, and recipes are followed. The Sous Chef is in charge of the final quality and presentation of menu items to ensure 100% customer satisfaction and financial profitability.
• Previous experience in commercial food preparation is required
• Associates degree in Culinary Arts
• Bachelors degree in Culinary Arts preferred
• Proficient with health and safety rules and regulations
• Ability to coach and mentor other staff
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to deal with high pressure environments
• Good decision making skills
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and as much as 10 pounds frequently.
• Must have the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, to lift, stoop, and bend.
• Must be well-groomed and uniform neat and clean.
• Hair must be neat and clean with no facial or long hair.
• No earrings allowed.
